Under the hood of every new Malibu is a turbocharged 1.5-liter I4 engine that produces 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission. The Malibu is also an excellent option for drivers who want to save money on gas, with an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27 miles per gallon and a highway fuel economy of 35 miles per gallon.

- LT: Builds off the LS with 17-inch wheels, heated exterior mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, and satellite radio.
- 2LT: Builds off the LT with 19-inch wheels, LED exterior lighting, ambient interior lighting, leather upholstery, integrated navigation, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, and a nine-speaker Bose® premium audio system.
