The compact SUV market continues to evolve, with automakers refining their offerings to meet changing consumer demands. Chevrolet's latest iteration of the Equinox aims to strike a balance between everyday practicality and modern comfort.

Every 2025 Chevy Equinox comes equipped with a standard turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This powertrain delivers a respectable 175 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque for the front-wheel-drive models. If you opt for the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version, the torque gets a welcome bump to 203 lb-ft, providing better grip and acceleration from a standstill.

The eight-speed automatic transmission generally provides smooth shifts, contributing to a pleasant driving experience. However, we did notice occasional stumbles during upshifts when accelerating hard. The steering, while light and easy for parking maneuvers, can feel a bit vague at higher speeds, offering limited feedback from the road. On the positive side, the braking system is a standout feature. The brakes are responsive and confident, allowing for smooth and controlled stops without any drama.

One of the most significant improvements in the 2025 Chevy Equinox is its exceptional comfort, making it an excellent choice for daily commutes and long-distance travel. The front seats are large, well-padded, and offer relaxing support that helps reduce fatigue on extended drives. Taller adults will appreciate the generous adjustments, making it easy to find a perfect driving position.

The rear seats are also accommodating, though slightly less padded than those in the front. The big news here is the substantial increase in rear legroom, which has grown by an impressive 2.5 inches compared to the outgoing model. Even as a shorter individual at 5’1”, I found plenty of room to stretch out and get comfortable. A fantastic feature for rear passengers is that the back seats recline, allowing them to relax during longer journeys.

Adding to the open and airy feel of the cabin is a massive panoramic sunroof. It floods the interior with natural light and provides beautiful views, enhancing the overall driving experience for everyone on board.

Step inside the 2025 Equinox, and you're greeted by an interior that feels surprisingly upscale for its class. Chevrolet has utilized a mix of quality materials to create a premium atmosphere. Surfaces are covered in soft-touch faux leather, complemented by premium microfiber upholstery.

The design team did an excellent job breaking up the large sections of black materials. Red accent stitching, silver-painted trim, and a variety of textures and patterns add visual interest and a sense of sophistication. The overall layout is well-planned and ergonomic, placing all essential controls and infotainment functions within easy reach of the driver.

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox is a compelling and well-rounded package that marks a significant step forward for the nameplate. Its upscale and comfortable interior, combined with a practical and user-friendly design, makes it an excellent companion for both daily errands and family road trips. With its handsome new styling and a cabin that punches above its weight, the new Equinox is a strong contender that deserves a spot on your test-drive list. If comfort, style, and practicality are at the top of your priorities, the 2025 Equinox is certainly worth a closer look.
